You might know us as the Country Music Capital, home to Australia’s First City of Light, or the gateway to the New England. But that’s just the beginning…

It’s where rich heritage meets outdoor adventure, arts and culture complements luxury, and sport intersects action and fun.

It’s where the charm of villages like Barraba, Manilla and Nundle meets the bright lights of a regional city like Tamworth.

And it’s the destination for an experience that’ll stick with you long after you depart. So go on, what are you waiting for?

Tour through the historical Calala Cottage.

Designed and built by Philip Gidley King in 1875 (Tamworth’s first Mayor 1876), the cottage is now a museum furnished with items mainly from the late Victorian period. Bequests from notable Tamworth families enhance the exhibits. These include collections of portraits, photographs, furnishings and clothing. The kitchen is a fully equipped late 1800s style kitchen, complete with bread oven, giving an insight into the pre-electric and gas period.

Pictured is the Slab Hut, also called the Shepherd's Hut was built in the 1840s. The property, owned by the A.A. Company was divided into 34 runs and a shepherd's hut was usually built on each run. This is one of those huts.
📍 Hanging Rock

The Tamworth region is full of beautiful contrasts.

Nundle and Hanging Rock are nestled in the hills to the south-east of Tamworth and with their high altitude you’ll experience a far different climate to the rest of the region.

Snow is common in the winter months and the summers are warm and comfortable.
