Recipe for a sublime St Patrick's Day at Nundle Country Picnic

St Patrick’s Day is always a great excuse to gather friends for a relaxing lunch, and this year it coincides with the Nundle Country Picnic, adding live music, local produce, and fashion to the mix on Sunday, March 17 from noon.

Held in the Nundle Woollen Mill grounds, groups of friends, families, and couples set up tables and chairs under the tree canopy or bring their own shade. It’s the perfect position to take in music by Sydney-based, Mimosa Duo, Phoebe and Morgan Haselden on violin and guitar, bringing Gypsy Jazz to Nundle.

Nundle Country Picnic committee member Teresa Eather said local fashion businesses Sacs on Jenkins and Nundle Woollen Mill were preparing a preview of winter fashion to be modelled by Nundle community members. “The recent cold snap has started people thinking that the colder months are not far away and we will have plenty of ideas to freshen up autumn and winter dressing,” Teresa said.

The Nundle Country Picnic committee has partnered with Jenkins Street Guest House’s Pip Joy and Brett Gorman to devise a flavoursome menu showing off local ingredients: Smoked trout canapé with lemon and dill cream cheese, cucumber spiral and melba toast; Basil pesto chicken kebab, Jenkins Street Guest House spinach and sweet potato pie; Rocket, pear, parmesan, pine nuts and cherry tomato salad; Baby potato salad; and for dessert Blackberry Eton Mess with blackberry coulis and Peel Valley cream.

The Nundle Country Picnic is very much a family friendly event and organisers have planned a special kids’ picnic pack and activities. There will also be a motorcycle display, hand picked market stalls, and favourite Nundle businesses a short stroll nearby.
