Event Marketing support now on offer to help community events thrive

2017NundleDogRace 280x280.jpgFrom dog races to art shows, country fairs, music festivals and cultural celebrations, Tamworth’s regional communities are renowned for the incredible array of events held each year. Organisers looking for marketing support to grow their events are being urged to reach out and apply now for Tamworth Regional Council’s Regional Events Marketing Support Program.

Applications for the 2019/2020 program will open on Friday 17 May and close at 5pm on Friday 14 June 2019.

The program assisted 15 regional events in 2018/2019 through financial and/or in-kind support including writing and distributing media releases, writing radio advertising scripts, booking advertising spaces and generating social media campaigns and advertisements.

The events supported by the program in the 2018/2019 financial year include successful events like Kootingal Country Fair, Dungowan Village Fair, Australian Stock Horse National Show, Nundle Country Picnic, Manilla Show, and Frost Over Barraba.

Tamworth Regional Council’s Director of Business and Community, John Sommerlad said the aim of the program is to assist community events to grow and increase visitation to the region.
These events are great contributors to our vast regional events calendar so it’s very important to provide them with assistance.”

“There is something for everyone to enjoy in the Tamworth region. We have a well renowned music and arts scene, high quality sporting facilities, strong ties to agriculture and a diverse cultural community that all celebrate by hosting annual events.

“I encourage event organisers to apply for Council’s support so that we can work together to bring further economic and social benefits to our entire region” said Mr. Sommerlad.

The total amount of financial support on offer is $30,000 and an applicant can apply for an amount from $500 up to $5,000.

To qualify for funding, an event must demonstrate three key focus areas including the economic benefit of the event, an increase in overnight visitation to the Tamworth region, and event sustainability.

Applications are assessed using the program’s selection criteria and funding will be allocated depending on size and scale of the event and its economic and visitation benefits to the region.  Applicants who are not eligible for financial support may still receive in-kind support.
Teresa Eather is an enthusiastic community events organiser and advocate for Nundle who helps to coordinate some of the region’s most fantastic annual events.

Teresa said the assistance provided through the Destination Tamworth Regional Events Marketing Support Program has helped many of their events to succeed.

“Nundle is a small community that is well-known for hosting unique events and we are seeing them grow from year to year. This year, some of our events including the Nundle Country Picnic, Nundle Go For Gold Festival and Great Nundle Dog Race had overwhelming attendance, with tickets even selling out for The Picnic, which was a fantastic result!

“Thanks to the support from Tamworth Regional Council via Destination Tamworth, we are able to engage with wider-spread audiences and in return our small community receives the big benefits of hosting events that are enjoyed by visitors and locals alike.”

Applications open on Friday 17 May 2019 and close at 5pm on Friday 14 June 2019, with funding available for events being held between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020..
