Please note: Applications for the 2017/2018 Destination Tamworth Regional Events Marketing Support Program have now closed and are currently being assessed. Successful applicants will be notified in the coming weeks.

Council is calling for applications for the 2017/2018 Destination Tamworth Regional Events Marketing Support Program.

In 2016/2017 the program assisted 14 events through financial and/or in-kind support, including social media campaigns and advertising support.

Tamworth Regional Council Director Business and Community John Sommerlad said the program aims to support and nurture events that bring visitors to our Region.

“The Program is our way of ensuring that festivals and events have support in promoting their events and attract visitors to the Tamworth Region for overnight stays.

“Last year, events that benefited from the support included Nundle Country Picnic, Rotary Dungowan Village Fair and Motor Show and the Australian Country Dance Festival which are fantastic events that showcase the varied interests of our community.

“These events provide significant benefit to our economy and we hope that more event organisers apply for support this year.”

The Program, now in its fourth year, has grown from six applications in 2015/2016 to 14 applications in 2016/2017 with Mr Sommerlad saying they “hope to continue that trend this year.”

“There are so many great events run in our community and we encourage organisers to submit an application and allow us to help you promote your hard work.”

The Program to date has received glowing praise from its recipients. John Barwick, Convenor of the Rotary Dungowan Village Fair and Motor Show Committee said their event “was a resounding success far beyond our expectations.”

“Our success was in no small way due to the professional marketing help given by Destination Tamworth. We focused on promoting the Village Fair to families and it worked. The social media campaign was fantastic.”

The total amount of financial support on offer is $30,000 and each applicant can apply for an amount of $500 up to $5,000.

In order to qualify for funding, an event must exhibit and be able to report back on three key focus areas including the economic benefit of the event to the Tamworth region, an increase in overnight visitation to the Tamworth region, and event sustainability.

Applications are assessed in accordance with the program’s selection criteria and funding will be allocated depending on size and scale of the event and its economic and visitation benefits to the region.

Applicants that are not successful for financial support, may still receive in-kind support.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday 18 August, with funding available for events being held up until 30 June 2018.
