Capitol Theatre Season 2017 Launched

Capitol Theatre Tamworth has announced a stellar line-up of shows for 2017 and welcome two new partners – Quality Hotel Powerhouse as the overarching Season Partner for the year and Jump Up Trampoline Zone as the Education & Families Partner.

34 events, made up from local and national touring productions, are on offer. An enthusiastic full house of inquisitive Subscribers, Members, Partners and friends of the Capitol were at last night’s launch to hear all about Season 2017.

Season 2017 includes highlights such as The Sydney Dance Company’s Frame of Mind, Sydney Writers’ Festival Live & Local, Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow, Boys In The Band, Diary of a Wombat and Annie at the Capitol Theatre, Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium at TRECC and Pinafore & So Much More!, a much requested Gilbert & Sullivan Revival, at the Tamworth Town Hall.

Manager of Entertainment Venues, Peter Ross, said, “Season 2017 supports the wonderful work of Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music, Tamworth Dramatic Society, Tamworth RSL Brass Band, Tamworth Musical Society and 2340 Big Band, as well as bringing a range of respected companies such as Monkey Baa Theatre Company, CDP Kids, Sydney Dance Company and the Melbourne City Ballet to the Tamworth region.”

Following on from last season’s very popular Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo, a particular highlight for children and their adults in 2017 will be Erth’s Perhistoric Aquarium at TRECC. This widely acclaimed show takes audiences into a new dimension of theatre, enabling families to connect with the real science of palaeontology and dive into the historical depths of the ocean to unlock some of nature’s greatest mysteries.

Ross, said, “I'm thrilled with the diverse line up of shows. Season 2017 is all about feeling at home in Tamworth’s biggest ‘living’ room, while you are taken into the wonderful world of live theatre – it makes us feel, think, reflect and ultimately connect and communicate.”

Peter Ross announced a new initiative, on behalf of Tamworth Regional Council Entertainment Venues, called Capitol Theatre Presents as part of Season 2017. This initiative will see hand picked, small scale shows taken into our smaller towns and villages to offer access to quality live entertainment in venues including Bendemeer Hall, Manilla Town Hall, The Playhouse Hotel, Barraba and Nundle Memorial Hall

Subscriptions and Memberships are now available, giving audience members discounts and access to tickets prior to the general public. These make an excellent gift at this time of year.

The Season 2017 booklet is available from the Visitor Information Centre/Big Golden Guitar or Capitol Theatre Tamworth. You can also ring 6766 2028 or visit to request a brochure be sent to you.
