The NSW State Final of these prestigious events will be taking place on Saturday, 23 September at the Tamworth Growers Market. The public is invited to witness the state’s foremost sausage and burger cook-off that will determine the NSW Sausage and Best Butchers Burger Kings amongst the state’s 1,300 Independent Local Butchers.
The Competition is the culmination of the Regional Competitions that have taken place through May to August at nine of the NSW TAFE Colleges. Regional winners will be competing for the coveted state crowns and lucky onlookers will get to taste the delicious sausages and burger up for judging.
State winners will then earn the right to compete in the National Final for the ultimate National Crowns. The Competition is staged annually by AMIC - the peak Council representing retailers, processors, exporters and smallgoods manufacturers in the post-farm-gate meat industry.
The six categories of sausages are; Traditional Australian Beef, Traditional Australian Pork, Poultry, Australian Lamb/Open, Continental and Gourmet/Open and Beef burger and Gourmet burger in the Best Butchers Burger competition. Come and judge for yourself which ones you think are the best!
Other attractions include “Sam,” the Council’s sausage mascot who will keep the kids amused, tips on cooking sausages from the experts, a chance to take part in sausage making demonstrations and where to find award-winning sausages in your neighborhood.
