Enjoy a range of movies during April and May each Sunday afternoon at the Playhouse Hotel while enjoying a home made afternoon tea.

Movies in the winter months will begin in 2:30pm with home made cakes and coffee available. 

THE LIGHTHORSEMEN

Sunday 23rd April - 2:30pm
Commemorating the centenary of the Battle of Beersheba, and ANZAC Day. This landmark 1988 Australian movie stars hundreds of horses and Peter Phelps, Sigrid Thornton and the late Jon Blake.
 



LION

A lost Indian boy (Dev Patel) is adopted by an Australian couple (Nicole Kidman & David Wehham). Now a young man, he returns to his homeland, determined to find his real parents. Six Oscar noms.

 




PATERSON

Sunday 7th May - 2:30pm
Director Jim Jarmusch's latest film is a quirky look at reality. A bus driver (played by Adam Driver) by day is a poet by night. The movie lets us recognise the poetry in the everyday details of everyone's life. 
 



HIDDEN FIGURES

Sunday 14th May - 2:30pm
The untold story of three brilliant African American women who worked at NASA and were the brains behind the launch of the first American into space, John Glenn. Three Oscar nominations.
 





TANNA
(M, 100 mins)
Sunday 21st May - 2:30pm
The story of star-crossed lovers in a primitive tribe on the island of Tanna, near Vanhuatu. The filmmakers lived with the tribe for seven months to make this magical romantic drama, based on a true story.

 


 

LA LA LAND

The long-awaited unchallenged popular hit of late 2016 stars Ryan Gosling as a jazz pianist and Oscar-winning Emma Stone as a would-be actress. They meet in Los Angeles and sing and dance their affair.

Ryan and Emma sing and dance up a storm in Hollywood. Film almost wins Best Picture!

THE PALM BEACH STORY

Classic screwball comedy from 1942, directed by Preston Sturges. Claudette Colbert and Joel McCrea play zany husband and wife down on their luck, so she sets out to divorce him and marry a millionaire.
