Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club - 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Public Night

Tamworth Botanic Gardens

Piper St,
Tamworth, NSW, Australia

Join with members of the Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club as we host a Public Night to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing!  The event is being held to coincide with the First Quarter Moon in our evening sky to enable telescope viewing and a large screen projection of the amazing craters and other incredible features on our Moon.  See though a telescope and on our big screen the Sea of Tranquility where humankind undertook our greatest adventure half a century ago when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first set foot upon the Moon!

The Club will be providing talks, videos and displays about the Apollo program and plans to return to the Moon by as soon as 2024.  There will be something of interest for young and old alike and a great opportunity to see the Moon close up!  Other astronomical objects, including the planets Jupiter and Saturn, will also be in the evening sky for telescope viewing.

A BBQ will operate from 6.00 pm (small fee) with hot and cold drinks available for purchase.  Talks, displays and telescope viewing from 6.30 pm.  Reserve your free tickets today!  Entry by gold coin donation and remember to dress warm!

Please note:  Children attending must be under the care and control of a parent or guardian at all times.  Smoking and alcohol will not be permitted at the venue.
