Gate to Plate Under The Stars

April 27 2019

Glamping New England has gathered some of the finest local businesses together to showcase the great things they are doing throughout the region. Have a splendid weekend while supporting local makers, producers, farmers and businesses during the drought.

The adventure begins with Wayward Trails picking you up from either Tamworth or Armidale where you will head to The Welders Dog (Tamworth) or Whyworry Wines (Armidale) to taste their finest beverages. From there both groups will descend on Dobson's Distillery for an afternoon grazing board while tasting their world famous and award winning spirits.

Delivery to Birrahlee, a 2500 acre angus and merino farm on prime Kentucky agricultural land, will see you settled into your Glamping New England luxury canvas bell tent accommodation on the hilltop before a quick tour of the working woolshed.

You will then be ready for a night of fantastic food, wine and beer, all from the local region in the Cooks Hut, the old dining room from the days when shearing crews stayed on the farms in the region.

The 3 course dinner provided by Swan Fine Foods and Fat Butcher BBQ will showcase the region's exquisite culinary delights, with a main of exceptional American style low and slow bbq prime lamb rack with an “Australian twist” -  grown, butchered and cooked by Dale Goodwin himself. Local beer from New England Brewery and wine from Merilba Estate Wines will set the meal off perfectly. Locally produced and packed teas, coffees and after dinner treats will be available at The Herd Bar for the evening.

With discussions from the local growers and makers who have produced the food, wine and beer you will be eating and drinking, you are sure to have a fantastic evening tasting and hearing what amazing gastronomic delights this region can produce.

After a luxury night of glamping under the stars at Birrahlee, you will be picked up by Wayward Trails and taken into The Alternate Root in Uralla for a delicious breakfast before being dropped back in Tamworth and Armidale.

This exceptional event is limited to 40 people in queen or twin share accommodation, so don't miss out on seeing the great things this region can produce, even in the hard times.
