Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC)

Experience the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC), which hosts more than 50 events per year, from agility dogs and alpacas to rodeos and showjumping. It has an indoor arena with tiered seating for 3360 people, horse sporting fields, two dressage areas and more. Check out the events calendar to plan your next visit.

Leconfield Jackaroo and Jillaroo School

For an unforgettable taste of outback working life, book an experience with Leconfield Jackaroo and Jillaroo School at Dungowan, not far from Tamworth’s CBD. There are 5- or 11-day courses for those needing a refresher or people just wanting a truly Australian experience. Horse whispering, sheep shearing, cattle mustering, working-dog demonstrations, fencing and whip-cracking will be just some of your activities. The school also gives half-day trail rides; as well as full-day and overnight programs with a trail ride as well as some of the activities above. They are all suitable for families and beginners.

Tamworth & Kootingal Horse Riding Adventures

Set on 1,400 acres, Kootingal Horse Riding Adventures take you on a scenic journey through the mountains. These 2.5 hour trail rides meander through spectacular scenery, and are suitable for all levels from beginners to the experienced rider. Daily trail rides commence at 9am and 2pm.

St George Horse Centre

Located only 10km north of Tamworth CBD, St George Horse Centre offers horse riding for all ages, from the Tiny Tots Class for 2-5 year olds to adults enjoying a peaceful trail ride under the big New England sky.
